Christ Episcopal Church offers a Sunday Service at 9:30 AM. Holy Eucharist is celebrated every Sunday. We also offer Evensong each Wednesday evening at 6:00 PM.
Music is very important during both services. Organ, piano music, and hymns are featured and are a central part of our service. We frequently add guest vocal and instrumental performances to the musical programming.
OUR COMMUNITY
Get to Know Our History & Community
Christ Episcopal Church, nestled on the banks of the beautiful Ohio River Valley in southeastern Indiana, is just one block from the historic main street and three blocks from the river and a view of the hills of Kentucky. (Madison is the largest contiguous National Historic Landmark District in the U.S.)
Look out for our church steeple and our traditional red doors -- they "welcome everyone!"
EVERYONE IS WELCOME
Embracing Inclusivity
Inclusion is a huge part of our mission at Christ Episcopal Church. We want ALL people feel welcome to join us.
In all things we do, we are working to make sure others feel wanted and included -- by inviting newcomers to join us at church, checking on those who have not attended recently, or helping people find a ministry that draws on their strengths and talents.
Collectively and individually, we pray "for all people in their daily life and work; for our families, friends, and neighbors, and for those who are alone."

Our Building + Grounds
Our historic church, rectory, and parish hall are located at the corner of Third and Mulberry Streets in the heart the National Historic District of downtown Madison, Indiana.
The church building was completed in 1850 and contains numerous stained glass windows from that time. These windows have been meticulously restored and are considered a national treasure, as only a handful of American-made windows from that era are still in existence.
Across the garden and just steps from the church, lies the Federal Style rectory. Careful attention was given to maintaining its historical charm during recent renovation.
Our parish hall is located at the rear of the church. Originally built in the 19th century, it has been modernized several times. It houses the church offices, meeting areas, and kitchen. And the recently renovated upstairs now hosts a PFLAG of Jefferson County youth space.
We are proud of the garden area connecting the three buildings. Lushly landscaped with flowering bushes, trees, and perennials, it has been included in three garden tours in the past 20 years.
The garden has several areas to encourage rest and reflection, and it includes the columbarium, located on the south wall of the church.
